Justice Lex Mpati

Lex Mpati joined the Legal Resources Centre (Makhanda) as in-house counsel in 1989.  He served as a judge in the Eastern Cape High Court from 1997 to 2000. He was later appointed as a judge of appeal for the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa.  He ascended to Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Appeal and ultimately the president of the SCA from 2008 – 2017.  He is curently the Chancellor of Rhodes University, his alma mater.
