For Immediate Release: 05 July 2018

Today, 05 July 2018, the Legal Resources Trust announced that, following a long and challenging search, it has identified Mr Nersan Govender as the person to succeed and take over from Ms Janet Love, who has been at the helm of the LRC for over 12 years.

Nersan brings with him more than two decades of experience in the field of labour law, dispute resolution, policy development and implementation. He is a thoughtful and empathetic leader and embodies a commitment to the goals of public interest lawyering and strategic thinking.

Nersan will be officially welcomed on the 1 August 2018 and there will be a carefully planned handover period involving our current National Director to ensure as seamless a transition as possible.

It with sadness that the LRC will be saying farewell to Janet Love, whose commitment and service to the LRC was responsible for the growth and sustainability of the organisation. We will miss her leadership and we thank her for all she has contributed.

“I am grateful for the time I have spent at the Legal Resources Centre which is an extraordinary organisation that involves creative and dedicated people who work tirelessly in support of courageous clients and which plays a central role in the social justice sector. I have been honoured to have been associated with the LRC and I wish Nersan all the best as he takes over as National Director.

Our Board of Trustees are knowledgeable of the inner workings of the organisation and are conscious of the challenges that the civil society sector faces. Their selection of Nersan and their commitment to provide him with the on-going support, that I have been fortunate to receive during my tenure, makes me confident that the LRC will go from strength to strength.

Nersan will join a team of people within the organisation who are competent, passionate and deeply committed to the LRC and the invaluable contribution that it makes towards achieving a better future for all. It is this team which is informed by the LRC’s vision that provides the basis for the LRC’s bright future.” – Janet Love
